On Saturday September 17, 2016 the Rochester Fire Dept. responded to a house fire at 99 High St. The house was fully engulfed in flames. The Fire Department was able to get Virginia Ortiz (Mother), Willie Nelson Jr. (Child) and Ameeya Nelson (Child) out of the house. They were rushed to the hospital, but all tragically died from smoke inhalation. The fire was intentionally lit in the front seat area of a 2005 Toyota Avalon parked in the driveway. The fire quickly spread and ultimately engulfed the entire house on fire. Several people were able to escape, but Virginia perished as she rushed upstairs in an attempt to save the children.

From the Family:

Virginia was my sister. She was loving, kind and always there for me and my other siblings. She was like a second mother to me growing up and always had that maternal nature since way before she even had her children. I miss her so much everyday. Little Willie was the 2nd born and V’s first boy. He was the sweetest kid ever! A wild one as well, he was rambunctious and always looking to help me out when I had my first baby boy. Ameeya, she was Virginia’s baby! Her last born and a little diva! She loved makeup & playing dress up and all things girly. She was completely different from my sister’s first girl lol. Ameeya was very soft spoken but also so, so sassy 😂♥️. She would have been a force to be reckoned with. Their lives were cut entirely too short, and it breaks my family’s heart every day that we have to celebrate birthdays and holidays without them here. It doesn’t feel right. Watching her other kids Taleah and Ty’zae grow up is bittersweet just thinking about how they all should be here. This tragedy ROCKED our world in the most horrific way, and we need justice for them.
