On June 23, 2021, at around 9:00 pm 27-year-old Shaka Nesmith was shot to death while sitting in his vehicle in a drive-by shooting. A second victim was also shot and survived his injuries. Investigators believe the murder of Shaka was part of an ongoing feud. Shakur Nesmith, the brother of Shaka was killed at this same intersection on 07-22-2020.
