On July 22, 2003 at about 9:45 pm the Rochester Police Department responded to the area of Jefferson Ave and West Main St for the report of a male shot on the sidewalk. Upon arrival they found 21-year-old Darrell Jones suffering from gunshot wounds. He ultimately succumbed died a short time later at the hospital. Witnesses reported that Jones was hanging out with a group of friends near the corner when two suspects ran up and began shooting.
