On December 23, 1993 at about 5:00 am 35-year old Emanuel Smith was shot and killed inside of 26 Hertel St. Smith and several other people were inside the house when there was a knock at the door. When one of the occupants opened the door, at least one suspect came in and started shooting. Smith was shot and pronounced dead at the scene. At the time of the murder, 26 Hertel St. was an active drug house.
