On July 22, 1993 just after 10:00 pm 19-year University of Rochester freshman Gregory Fickess drove to the Eastman School of Music on Main St. in Downtown Rochester to meet some friends. Greg parked his car in the parking lot at the corner of Main St and Chestnut St and started to walk to the nearby dorms. Two men approached and in an unprovoked attack began to beat Greg. Several passerby’s witnessed the attack, intervened and the two suspects fled on foot. Greg was rushed to the hospital where he ultimately died from his injuries the following day. Greg was described as a peaceful young man with a bright future. Investigators pursued many leads and know there are people in the community who can bring the Fickess family the resolution they continue to pray for.
