During the early morning hours of April 23, 1978 Rochester mob underboss “Sammy G” Gingello was killed by a bomb that was detonated from under his Buick Park Ave Sedan after leaving the popular Blue Gardenia Lounge. His body guards Tom Taylor and Tom Torpey were injured in the bombing. The murder occurred during a violent time in Rochester because of a war between Rochester mob factions.
